«Studium in libris». Mélanges en l’honneur de Jean-Louis Charlet

Textes édités par Gaëlle Herbert de la Portbarré-Viard et Annick Stoehr-Monjou

This volume, dedicated to Jean-Louis Charlet, Professor of Late, Medieval and neo-Latin literature at the University of Aix-Marseille and author of major editions of Claudian and N. Perotti, and of numerous studies on Late Latin poetry, humanist literature, letter writing, lexicography, and metrics, contains thirty-five contributions by French and foreign scholars. The first part of the book is devoted to the Late Antiquity and Middle Ages. Here the reader will find literary studies on eleven authors from the 4th to 11th centuries, as well as articles on the transmission and criticism of texts, and on Christian archeology. The second part is reserved for neo-Latin field. It includes editions, translations, and comments on texts from various literary genres (nuptial poems, hymns, epigrams, controversy), studies in philology and lexicography, and, finally, articles on the relationship between text, image, and poetics. The large variety of topics reflects diverse interests of Jean-Louis Charlet as well as the extraordinary productivity of his teaching and research.
