The Institut d’Études Augustiniennes, closely linked to the Catholic Institute of Paris, to the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV) and to the C.N.R.S, is also an Association, recognised as an organisation of cultural and scientific importance, as defined by the 1901 law.
The remit of this Association, founded in 1956, is the publication of research in patristics (and in the fathers’ medieval and modern legacy), in late antique Greek and Latin literature, and in the history of ancient Christianity. Publications appear as books (“Collection des Études augustiniennes”, “Bibliothèque augustinienne”, and “Nouvelle Bibliothèque augustinienne”) and as periodicals (Revue d’Études augustiniennes et patristiques; Recherches augustiniennes et patristiques). The Association also organises conferences and colloquia, and hosts seminars. Lastly, it is responsible for the running of the library.
Daily responsibility for these activities is entrusted to a President and an Administrative Council, whose members are chosen by the Association’s General Assembly, and report on their management every year to this Assembly. In this annual general meeting of the Assembly, the Institut d’Études Augustiniennes reviews its activities and considers new projects.
